FWC Member Letter
Dear Members of Friendship Wesleyan Church, 05/12/2021
We praise God for each of you and for your faithfulness during these times of crises! Our God is faithful, and you have proven faithful! We praise Him for every one of you!
At the close of February this year we received correspondence from The Great Lakes Region of the Wesleyan Church informing us that the General Church and Districts had decided to cancel all yearly conference meetings for 2021. The correspondence gave authority to the local churches to proceed forward as they saw best in their local context. It was at that time that we, the leadership of Friendship Wesleyan Church, made the decision to move forward with the “business” (Budget creation and nominations for Admin. Bd.) of the church for 2021. In light of the fact that a significant number of members had not returned to “in-house services”, the decision was made to bring the membership into the process via “correspondence”, with the hope of keeping the entire membership informed.
We have created a budget which is below this correspondence (BUDGET 2020-2021 button). It is very similar to last year and has “notes” where we thought there may need to be clarification. The Nominating Committee (Brenda Campbell, Tammie Vick, Jessa Hahn, Jon Steinhauser, and Pastor Kevin) met and after prayerful consideration offered three names for Administrative Board to give “relief” to our members who have been serving overtime and faithfully throughout this pandemic. The names of the three members are Pam Cross, Christie Gillette, and Beth Metzger (and they have all agreed to serve). The plan is to revisit the issue of nominations and elections to the Administrative Board in the 2022 Conference in light of the fact that some members have had to add extra time to their terms of service.
What we are asking you to do at this time is to review the “Proposed Budget” and nominations and if you have any questions, clarifications, or thoughts to contact members of the Administrative Board (Jon Steinhauser, Sylvia Trevino, Donna Langford, Beth Metzger, John Campbell, or Jessa Hahn). Once we have all questions answered and the majority of the membership is in support these two items (budget and nominations) the Budget and Nominations will take effect on June 1st.
At this time, we still have a number of members who are still at home, awaiting final vaccinations or considering family health. So, we are encouraging you to pray for each other even as we pray for our community and nation to experience the healing power of the Holy Spirit!
God Bless,
The Administrative Board of Friendship Wesleyan Church
